The existence and entire history of Cantina di Soave is intimately bound up with that of its growing area, the noble origin of wines celebrated across the globe. This year we chose to pay tribute to its beauty, not simply for reasons of aesthetic appreciation, but because that attractiveness is the visual embodiment of profound values: its beauty sums up in itself the quintessence of our own corner of earth and of our origins.
Thanks to the superb sensitivity of photographer Alberto Buzzanca, the just-released Cantina di Soave 2020 calendar is an homage, a journey of discovery, in images, of the Soave area, which was recently enrolled by the FAO in its Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) program, the very first viticultural area in Italy to be so honoured.
«Our wine, with its colours, fragrances, its noble tradition, is the very foundation of our vine-filled valleys and our vineyard-carpeted hillslopes – explained Cantina di Soave General Manager Bruno Trentini – and that wine is an intimate part of ourselves as well. So, to celebrate the prestigious honour bestowed on our area, we dedicated the 2020 calendar to our own land of Soave, and in doing so we are, in fact, continuing our long journey of discovery of our beloved Italy. We started our travels five years ago, and after Verona, Venice, Lake Garda, and Capri, here we are in Soave, precisely where our winery was founded, where all this began».
