Yesterday evening, 14 November, in London’s brilliantly-lit Guildhall, during the course of a gala dinner presented by the IWSC International Wine & Spirits Competition, Cantina di Soave was officially designated Italian Wine Producer of the Year.
The awards ceremony, marked by great solemnity and prestigious ritual, featured the presence of Cantina di Soave General Manager Bruno Trentini, Vice General Manager Wolfgang Raifer, and Export Manager Luca Sabatini.
The recognition was bestowed by the IWSC on the Soave-based winery with the following tribute: “The highly innovative Cantina di Soave have managed to use technology to gain better understanding of the vineyards and to achieve the highest quality wines”.
The International Wine & Spirits Competition, founded in 1969 by winemaker Anton Massel, is one of the world’s oldest and most authoritative wine competitions. Its awards are highly respected across the globe and extremely influential in European markets. As finalists along with Cantina di Soave were five other prestigious Italian wineries: Fattoria La Vialla, Sartirano Figli Cantine e Vigneti, Terre del Barolo, Ferrari F.lli Lunelli, and Martini.
«Our wines have often received top awards from the IWSC – remarked Bruno Trentini – but to receive the title of Italian Producer of the Year is a great honour indeed and coveted recognition of our efforts over recent years to strengthen and grow every aspect of our winery, so that we can produce ever finer wines, but always in deep respect for the environment, which for us is a most precious heritage. This award is an immense satisfaction for our entire team, who work passionately every day to make this possible: our member growers, our production staff, and all our colleagues, because without them Cantina di Soave would not be what it is».
