Italian sparklers captivate the Prince and the drivers

Press release

On May 24th, in the Principality of Monaco, on 24 May last, the World Stars Football Match took place, the now-classic charity football match between the Formula 1 drivers team and the Star Team, captained by Prince Albert II of Monaco. The new development this year is that, for the first time, the match finale was celebrated not with Champagne, but with a prestigious Italian sparkling wine.

Cantina di Soave’s Durello Settecento33 was the star both of the poolside aperitif served in the splendid Marriott Hotel, and of the concluding gala at the Le Symbol, exclusively for the drivers and a select group of the Prince’s guests. During the party, whose surprise was driver Giancarlo Fisichella performing as DJ, guests savoured as well the Soave maison’s historic sparkler Equipe5.
“I am proud to participate in such an important event and to see how much the guests appreciated our sparkling wines,” commented Bruno Trentini, General Manager of Cantina di Soave. “This is a tribute not only to us, but to the entire Italian wine community. Excellence is excellence, whether French or Italian, and we producers must always commit ourselves to doing everything possible to achieve ever higher quality. With regard to Cantina di Soave, we are particularly satisfied with the considerable success that our Durello Settecento33 has achieved in little more than a year, both in Italy and abroad.”
