The tasting jury of the prestigious international Mundus Vini wine competition awarded its Gold Medal to Rocca Sveva’s
“Chiaropuro” Bianco Veronese lGT and topped that by naming it “Best Of Show Veneto – White”.
«This award is of particular pride to us – commented Bruno Trentini, Cantina di Soave General Manager – we often receive medals for our great wines from the classic Verona DOC and DOCG zones, but here we have significant recognition for the quality and style of our IGT wines as well.
These IGT wines are, of course, contemporary-styled and market-oriented, making it possible for us to keep abreast of consumer trends and remain competitive, but they are of extremely high quality as well. In addition, they enjoy the luxury of being stylistically original and distinctive, since they are not bound by the regulations of the DOC and DOCG production codes».
“Chiaropuro” is a blend of aromatic white-wine grapes grown in hillslope vineyards around Verona. The grapes naturally achieve super-ripeness on the vine, followed by a further ten days of drying on reed mats. The wine ferments and matures in steel.
Luca Maroni, in his Annuario – I Migliori Vini Italiani, describes the wine:
«As usual, the steel-fermented florality of its bouquet contributes to confirming Rocca Sveva’s “Chiaropuro” as one of the Veneto’s finest white wines. Its velvet smoothness and impressively-clean contours are exceptional, and equally so its world-class depth and fruit extraction».
The Association of Italian Sommelier’s Vinetia guide sees it this way:
«Appearing a luminous straw yellow, “Chiaropuro” opens to citrussy notes of citron, lemon zest, and mandarin orange, yielding gradually to almost-tropical impressions of pineapple, orange blossom, and broom, which are then further enriched by nuances of peppermint, nettle, and crisp, earthy mineral. The palate is truly amazing: tangy and refreshing, with a lengthy progression hinting of mineral-rich limestone. A wine of marked character, finesse, and impressive length».
The wine critics’ appreciation seems to be well mirrored by that of consumers as well:
